World news and media coverage of the recent Russian invasion of Ukraine is on the minds of many of our students, families and staff. This situation may impact families differently and cause significant hardships, especially for families with ties to Ukraine and/or Russia and our military-connected families.


While we don’t know every family’s connection to Ukraine, Russia or military and national service, it remains true that we are working to provide a safe, nurturing learning environment for your student and serve as a resource for your family.

Students are looking to adults to make sense of these events. Below are some resources you may find helpful in talking with your child about world news and the specific impacts to your family:

  3. Resilience in a time of war: Tips for parents and teachers of elementary school children:  American Psychological Association provides tips and strategies for supporting elementary children.

Please look for signs of anxiety or stress in your student and reach out to your student's teacher, counselor or principal if you need additional assistance. The school district is partnering with our Military Family Life Counselors to coordinate support. Additional resources include:
